Back to the Future

Last Saturday we helped our gorgeous friend Lucy roll over into the tender 25th year of her life! We all gathered in style at an incredible house which was named "House of the Future" in 1965.
The setting....1950-1960....
Ebony and I were mother and daughter for the evening. I cannot even tell you how much I resembled my Oma, and Karl kept telling me that I looked like I was recruiting young people for some new found religion?!?!

Sweet sweet high school romance!

Lucy had her hair done in a posh nanny salon, under one of those hot helmet things. Hair spray was the secret ingredient, and we are wondering if she is still rocking this look days later?!?!

From beehives, to Devils on horseback, jello punch to rainbow cake....we relived the time before our time!

mmm mmmm...Eb serves up the hot pigs in blankets

Karl from Rinzen was a heavenly host, with smooth moves...

Incredible masks and artwork swarmed the house.

Tony and Bob were two of the finest gentlemen of the evening.

Check out that rainbow cake!!! It has inspired us to get back into baking and now we just cannot stop!!!

Karl's moves could contest Snoop Dogg's rhymes anyday! And I must say that I really dont think my Oma could bust a move like me!

The lovely Lyn & Tony showered us with fantastic stories all evening....I love nothing more in life than a good story!

Pardon me, but something tells me that iphones did not exist in the 50s...but maybe they did in the house of the future?!?!?

And we will be seeing you all in the future! Gutted that we will not be in Sydney for the next Futuristic Gay Bash 3000 on Aug 5...but we will be in the future...Tokyo here we come!!!!!!

Getting Down and Dirty

It's not all gold and fame here at Make Believe, it's infact a real rainbow of resin mess. These are the humble beginnings of our Petal to the Metal Necklace. Despite the treasures from the collection appearing to be magically granted by wizard wands, we must actually get down and dirty to bring you all the treasures that you can find on our Make Believe webshop.

Hang me up to dry

Who knew a concrete floor could get prettier the dirtier it gets?!?!

I glove you!

Dolce & Gabbana or Make Believe jeans???

Chain Gang!

Ready to walk down the isle to the second studio to be united in marriage with Chain Gang!

And they lived happily ever after, Glossy Resin and Gold Chain and their offspring...
"Petal to the Metal".

-THE END-

Mannequin of My Dreams

I have spent countless hours of my life dressing mannequins and bodyforms, to the point where the sight of the plastic bodies with no souls makes me a little queezy. But that all changed when I snuck downstairs at the pop up shop to see the artwork that was going up for the Happenstance show this week.
What I found in the dark basement of the Artisan Guild & Curiosity shop did not disappoint. It was incredibly sketched, painted and constructed mannequin parts.

Meanwhile, upstairs people were shopping away...
...Mitch the lovely gem from All Of Our Lives was holding down the fort on the shop floor and I came along to show him some of my moves!

This is the brilliant brains and hard work behind the whole operation, Chrissy Hammond. Wearing an All Of our Lives "triple entendre" bowtie and the handsome mannequin to her left is in a 2Lyn&Tony leather scarf and our very own Make Believe rat!

The opening on Thursday was incredible, and the Marsu Homme pop up space is proving to be more and more of a crowd pleaser. If you find yourself in Sydney, definitely head to 263 Oxford Street and dont forget to teeter down the stairs to the basement to check out "Fresh Meet" exhibition put on by the geniuses at Happenstance.

Waffle Fish and Shiso Pepsi and The Best Dad EVER!

I woke up thinking that it was just another sunny saturday morning. But with a knock at the door and a hesitant answer of "who is it?"...thinking it might be the Jehovah's Witnesses...my day took a major turn for the best!!

Let me first tell you that Ebony and I have the best Dad in the world who lives in Tokyo. He just happens to be between the two of us girls in age, so that is miraculous...and that is only the beginning. He takes such great care of his girls...even dips into our college funds to help pay for summer fun flights to Tokyo, Sinkansen (bullet train) tickets when we are too hung over to travel by bus and looks out for us in EVERY situation! He is the best man in the whole wide world!

So today, this special thing that was delivered with the early morning knock at the door was a little surprise from our Dad! I could not have ever dreamed up a better gift.....

A home kit for waffel making, and the talk of tokyo...this summers Pepsi flavor; Shiso Pepsi x 2!

Waffel fish is what I call them, but taiyaki is the real name. All you need to know is it's like a crsipy pancake filled with custard or red beans....mmmm mmmm! おいしい!!!

The Shiso Pepsi is cooling in the fridge right now, so we will give you our verdict when they reach the right temperature for consumption! All I can say is that I hope refreshing is an understatement!!!

Thanks Dad!!!!! Your girls love you more than you know!!!! And we will be seeing you in exactly 1 month!!!

xoxo
